Norway cracks down on financial service providers for online poker

The Norwegian banks have closed several accounts. Five financial service providers, as well as two online gambling companies, were affected.

As reported on the classkampen.no website, banks in Norway were asked to close company accounts used for online gambling. It has caught the eWallets Worldpay, Earthport, Trustly, Inpay and Entercash.

Two bank accounts were closed by operators. Mangas Gaming, a company with connections to Betclic Everest (including Expekt, Betclic, Everest Casino and Bet-at-Home.com), and Staycool OÜ (Coolbet.com and Coolpickz.com) were affected. This is only the first step, further accounts or operators should be blocked.

The authorities sent the application to the banks a letter from the national lottery authority. This is exciting in so far as the state monopoly is clearly protected, which in turn will lead to EU law-based actions by the operators.
